Vietnam cupid scam

Police in Da Lat city in Vietnam have arrested Ha Thi Anh Nguyet, 34, of Quang Ninh police for allegedly drugging and robbing an American man he had met online for valuables worth $5,000.

The man is a 72-year-old American and a former police who had met Ha through a dating site "Vietnam Cupid" with the nickname, Sapphire. She had told him that she is a fashion designer and also a business woman in Dalat city.

       

The online friends decided to meet in Da lat city. On the evening of July 26th, they both met at the local pub, and thereafter Ha suggested they go to the man's place after the pub had closed. Knowing what she was about to do, Ha decided to buy 2 bottles of wine, even though is is eight months pregnant.

The man woke up the next day and found out that his iPad, credit card, watch, mobile phone had gone with Ha, who had left the hotel before the man woke up. The man tried calling and chatting with her, but all to no avail.

He then reported the case to the local police station.

The deputy police chief, Phan Tat Chi created an account and claimed to be French Vietnamese. He said that he is rich and also in Vietnam, and would be happy to meet Ha. But she did not give her details to Chi, but at the time of the conversation, Ha was using the iPad she stole from the American man, and the police tracked her down with the device. On August 4th, An arrest was made and Ha Nguyet was in custody.

She confessed to the crime of putting sleeping pills into the man's wine before taking his property. She went from Da lat back to Nha Trang, and had used the man's credit card to buy goods worth $2,100.

The woman who is heavily pregnant, said she is expecting her baby with a man she had met in prison.
