The white bird was said to have crossed over from Pakistan earlier this week before it was caught by the police by the 14 year old boy in the village of Pathankot, Punjab state, 4km away from the border.

The bird was later sent to sent to be X-rayed for more possible clues, but after nothing was found, it was placed under armed guard to prevent it from flying back to Pakistan.

Speaking to the India times, the police superintendent of Pathankot,(SSP) Rakesh Kaushal said

Nothing adverse has been found, but we have kept the bird in our custody .This is a rare instance of a bird from Pakistan being spotted here. We have caught a few spies here. The area is sensitive, given its proximity to Jammu, where infiltration is quite common.

Authorities are on alert as the bird discovery was made  2 days after the country intelligence Bureau(IB) issued an alert warning of Indian Mujahideen being active in Jammu and Pathankot regions.
