American Navy Veteran Killed One Indian Man, And Wounded Two Other After He Yelled "'Get Out Of My Country'

Adam Purinton, a 51-year-old Navy veteran is not happy with foreigners living in his country as he yelled "get out of my country" and fatally shot Indian man, Srinivas Kuchibhotla and other two at a bar in Olathe, Kan., Feb. 22.

After the shooting, Adam ran away from the scene of the incident, and was arrested 80 miles away at an Applebee’s in Clinton, Mo., in the early hours of Feb 23rd. He has now been put behind bars in what police are calling a hate crime.

Adam told police in Missouri that he had killed two men, and he referred to them as "Middle Eastern". He is now charged with premeditated murder, and two counts of attempted murder.

Before his death, the Indian man, Srinivas Kuchibhotla, 32-year-old hailed from Hyderabad, India, and was an aviation engineer at Olathe-based technology company Garmin.

Also, another co-worker of the deceased, Kuchibhotla is Alok Madasani, a 32-year-old, Indian, was also at the bar at the time of shot being fired, and he was wounded.

The Gofundme page page set up for Srinivas to help with his funeral and help the family with his body to India was targeted to raise $150k, but at the time of this writing had raised, $393,547.

             

A spokesperson for Garmin, Carly Hysell said in a statement to New York Daily News that the company is not publicly identifying the employees, but the second employee, Alok is no longer in critical condition.

The third victim is Ian Grillot, 24, was the third victim of the shooting. He ran towards the Adam Purinton while shooting to save the men the gunman targeted. 

Adam is called a hero for his act, and a Gofundme has also been set up for him.

The alleged killer appeared in court on Feb. 23, and waved extradition so he could be taken back to Kansas.
